First of July (1July) every year is celebrated as national doctors’ day in India by the IMA (Indian Medical Association ).
The day is remembered in the birth and death anniversary of Dr Bidhan Chandra Roy who was also Chief minister of Bengal.
The national doctors day is dedicated to all the doctors and health care staff and members who have been serving for the welfare of the general public risking their own life .

History of national doctors’ day 2021
National doctors’ day was first celebrated in the year of 1991 in the honor of Doctor BC Roy who was also former CM of the state Bengal . to recognize the contribution which doctor Roy had made in serving humanity .
In the field of medical Doctor roy have made an enormous contribution and was one of the greatest doctor
Doctor Roy was born on 1 july 1882 and breathed his last breath on 1 july 1962 .
Dr Roy was honored with Bharat ratana on February 4th 1961 . Doctors also played an important role in establishment of many medical institutes like Victoria Institution (college), Jadavpur T.B hospital and many others .
