Manipur to have 10 days Lockdown from 18, July 2021

Due to the high occurrences of the Delta strain of COVID-19 in Manipur, the state administration has announced a state of total lockdown for ten days beginning July 18.
In an official announcement, Manipur state’s Principal Secretary, V. Vumlunmang, stated that the state’s transmission chain must be severed.

“With the wide prevalence of Delta variant of Covid-19 in Manipur, there is a need to take stringent measures to break the chain of transmission. Therefore, the state government has decided to declare a total curfew from July 18, 2021, for ten days,” said health department

The state’s inhabitants were also encouraged to help stop the spread of the deadly contagious disease, according to the Principal Secretary. According to the notification, only essential acts related to vaccination and COVID testing are permitted. Medical services, water services, water supply, energy supply, telecom/internet services, air travel, and agricultural operations would all be made possible by the state.

For the first time,in the state of Manipur Chief Minister (CM) N.Biren Singh confirmed the presence of COVID-19 Delta in the state on June 18.
Manipur has reported the highest single-day increase in Covid-19 instances in the recent 24 hours, raising the total to 81,560. In addition, 17 people in other hospitals died as a result of the virus. The infection has claimed the lives of 1,340 people in Manipur. There were 8,558 active cases in the state as of Thursday, with 3,436 people being held in their homes. The state administration has prolonged the night curfew from 7 p.m. to 5 a.m. in all districts till July 20.
